Maverick County VINELink Transition
The familiar VINELink name describes a victim-notification function, but Texas changed the county layer. Effective September 1, 2025, legacy county VINE registrations moved to Texas IVSS-Counties. The Texas Attorney General says existing users should update their password and review notification preferences. A search does not require registration, while saved alerts do. Maverick County participation must still be checked in the live portal because an agency option can change.
County IVSS and TDCJ IVSS are related but distinct. County IVSS may carry booking, release, transfer, court-event, escape, death, or transfer-to-TDCJ events when the participating agency supplies them. TDCJ IVSS follows post-conviction prison, parole, mandatory-supervision, discharge, and warrant events. Neither system is a universal archive. A status alert is a prompt to verify the event with the named custodian.
Search Maverick County Release Status
Use the most precise details available. Names can collide, and a spelling difference can hide a record. Registration is not needed merely to search the county portal. The goal is to match the person, agency, and custody event before treating a result as relevant.

- Compare age or birth information, agency, booking identifier, and status.
- Open the matching record and note the exact event date, time, and wording.

A release by Maverick County Sheriff ends that county custody episode. It may lead to the community, TDCJ, another county, ICE, or a federal custodian. Registration attaches to an indexed record, not just a loose name. That reduces false matches. Still, an alert may arrive after an agency update and may describe a transfer rather than freedom from custody. Record the agency, wording, and time before contacting the custodian.
Texas Prison Release Notifications
A Maverick County conviction can lead to TDCJ custody outside the county. In that case, county IVSS is not the whole path. TDCJ IVSS is the state post-conviction service for notices about parole review, release to parole or mandatory supervision, discharge, and warrant actions. Texas IVSS Counties Change
The 2025 launch is a distinctive part of a Maverick County VINELink check. TDCJ's fiscal 2025 review describes IVSS Counties as the bridge for county jail and court notifications alongside the post-conviction system. That means generic VINELink directions from another state may point to the wrong Texas screen or an obsolete PIN process.

Maverick County Alert Limits
County IVSS does not cover BOP incarceration or ICE custody as a single combined chain. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP Inmate Locator. Immigration custody belongs in the ICE Online Detainee Locator. USMS pretrial and transport custody has no comparable nationwide public locator. A county alert therefore cannot rule out federal custody.
Timing is another limit. Agency data may lag, identifying details may differ, and safety or record rules may affect display. Treat an alert as timely notice, then obtain the originating record. Include the full name, aliases, date of birth or age, booking number when known, and a limited date range. Ask for an existing record, not a newly written answer.
Maverick Release Agency Boundaries
Eagle Pass Police Department and Maverick County Jail also produce different custody records. If city police released a person before county booking, the police custody disposition is the relevant event. Once the Sheriff accepted the person, the county booking and release record controls that local custody episode. Search both only when the handoff is unclear.
A TDCJ alert applies only after the state system received the person. A favorable parole decision is not the same as physical release because plan review, required programs, certificate work, and records checks can remain. Likewise, a BOP result or ICE event belongs to its federal custodian. Keeping the systems separate prevents one agency's “released” label from being treated as proof that no other authority holds the person.
Keep registration confirmations current. A changed phone number, blocked text, full mailbox, or blackout setting can stop practical delivery without changing the official event. Check the live record again when release is near, and preserve the time of each check. If an alert and agency record disagree, the agency that supplied the event data should resolve it.
Keep the notification confirmation with the later alert and the source record. A migrated account should be checked for its current phone, text, and email choices because an old Texas VINE PIN instruction does not describe the present IVSS-Counties workflow. If registration is unavailable on the matched record, use the named agency and Maverick County open-records channel. Do not claim that an alert was created. This preserves a clear distinction between a search result, a saved preference, a delivered notice, and the official release or transfer record.
